What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a system of health care which looks for the cause of health conditions. It is based on the premise that we were created as self-healing beings. Ill-health results when interference to healing exists in the body. One of the main places interference develops is in the spinal column. Chiro- practors have traditionally called this interference a subluxation. Subluxations are misalignments in the spine which produce pressure on nerve roots exiting the spine. When the subluxations are corrected through spinal adjustments (chiropractic treatment), the nerve pressure is relieved, and the healing process begins. Because chiropractic emphasizes the body's self-healing abilities, chiropractors do not prescribe medication. Chiropractors do refer to other health care professionals when necessary.
